Help Josh Borden & Family

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Alicia and I've made this GoFundMe to help raise money for Josh Borden and his family. Because of a severe infection in his foot, Josh has been in the hospital since 12/19 and the ICU since 12/22. After having his leg amputated it will be some time before he is back at work. I can't imagine how much this has cost them so far, nor how much it will continue to cost them. Because of this I'd like to try to raise as much money as possible for Josh, his wife, and children. All donations will go directly to Josh's wife to help with medical and general living expenses.

From Josh's wife:
"Josh was taken by ambulance to St. Joes in Warren, Ohio on 12/19 because he had tested positive for covid and his left leg, ankle, and foot were so swollen he couldn't stand. They admitted him immediately and said it was a severe cellulitis infection. They started him on antibiotics and scheduled surgery for Tuesday for a dibridement of the infection on his leg. His surgery was postponed to Wednesday. They were not able to get all of the infection and said that they would need to go in and get more, and amputation was a possibility. He handled the surgery well and was still on antibiotics and some pain medicine. On Thursday 12/22 his nurse found him in his room in a puddle of bloody stools and he was taken to ICU as a precaution because that wasn't what he originally came in with. They called me at 4am on 12/23 to tell me what happened and that he was fine they just needed to find where he was bleeding from. They called me back at 9:30 and said I needed to come in as soon as I could he wasn't doing good all his numbers were dropping. I got there by 10 and he was coding, they worked on him for 10 minutes to get him back. He was put on life support and taken to do a CT and other testing to find the bleeding. They found he had 2 large ulcers on his duodenum part of his intestine. They cotterized them to try to stop the bleeding, but then they still had to cut him open to do a surgery because they were still seeping. He was sedated for a couple days and they kept running tests and at one point he had like 12 different in fluids going into him. His numbers started to improve and stabilize and they started back to work on his leg. He had consults from podiatry, orthopedic, and vascular, and discovered that his leg was dieing and in order to stop the spread of necrosis he would need it amputated. On 12/28 he had his left leg amputated up to the middle of his thigh. His blood count kept dropping and he was still getting blood given to him, so they were doing more tests to figure that out. On 12/29 he threw up a lot of stomach bile so they put a pump in to remove the bile. On 12/30 they couldn't figure out why he was producing so much bile and decided to give him something to cause stomach contractions to see if that would get it to move down instead of just sit in his duodenum. As of right now we don't know if that's working, he still has the ventilator tube in because the fear is if they remove it he'll get the bile in his lungs and then we'll have a whole other mess. He obviously has not been able to start any physical therapy for his leg yet and as of right now we don't know anything more than day to day."

I will be updating this fundraiser whenever I get new information. All shares and donations, big or small, are appreciated more than we can express.
