Wanted to give an update about Chicken — during the CT scan, they found a cancerous mass in his nasal passage, most likely either a lymphoma or carcinoma. We won't have biopsy results for at least a few days. He is still in the hospital for now, and is started on a steroid to hopefully reduce some inflammation in his nose. Thank you SO much for reaching out and donating. We could still use any good thoughts, sharing the Gofundme, or donating.

Our beloved cat, Chicken, has been fighting for his life this past month, and our hearts are breaking watching him struggle. What started as what seemed like a simple illness—mucus discharge, weeping eyes, and a loss of appetite—quickly spiraled into something far more serious.

We first took Chicken to our local vet, but the antibiotics they prescribed only made him sicker. Desperate, we rushed him to the emergency vet, who immediately told us to take him off the medication. We thought he might finally be on the mend, but things only got worse.

When we came home from our honeymoon a few days ago, we found Chicken in a terrifying state—his breathing was extremely labored, major weight-loss, and he wouldn’t eat at all. We rushed him back to the emergency vet, where they admitted him to the ICU and placed him in an oxygen tank overnight to stabilize him. Seeing him inside that tank, struggling to breathe, was one of the hardest moments of our lives.

Today, Chicken is at the ICU in Greenville, South Carolina. His breathing is shallow and labored, and he spends most of his time lying down. After seeing the cardiologist, he was referred to Internal Medicine and will need a CT scan and a scope to investigate the possibility of growths in his nasal passages.

We are doing everything we can to save Chicken, but the cost of his emergency visits, ICU stay, and upcoming specialist care is staggering. We are asking for $20,000 to help cover his medical bills and give him the best possible chance at recovery.

Chicken is more than just a pet—he is family. He’s been by our side through thick and thin, and it’s devastating to see him suffering like this. If you’re able to donate, even a small amount, it would mean the world to us. And if you can’t, simply sharing this fundraiser helps more than you know.

BRIEF BACKGROUND:

This past year has been one hardship after another. Last September, Hurricane Helene forced Josh and Olivia to flee their Asheville home, leaving behind safety and stability. They have since overcome the expense of temporary unemployment and travel for their family to find a safe haven, however, the trauma of the experience has weighed heavily on them and their community.

Josh and Liv are the most generous, considerate, and loving people. They never stop prioritizing the needs of their family, friends, and community. They love their family, which consists of their pets Bonita, Gypsy, Dilly, Liddy, and Chicken. Our precious pets only experience a short time with us and we can offer support to our lifelong friends who need it now more than ever.
