Help My Family Recover After the Devastating Earthquake in Venezuela

My name is José Torres, and I live in Oklahoma, USA.

I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my family after the devastating earthquake that struck Venezuela on June 24, 2026.

My sister and my brother-in-law were inside one of the residential buildings that collapsed during the earthquake. At this time, rescue teams continue working at the site while authorities carry out the difficult process of searching for and identifying the victims. Like many other families, we continue waiting for answers.

I am the brother of one of the people who was inside that building, and the uncle of their two children. This fundraiser is being organized to support my nephews and our entire family as we respond to this tragedy.

The impact extends far beyond one building.

Many of our relatives—including my parents, extended family members and lifelong friends who lived in the same area—have lost their homes and nearly everything they owned. Several are now displaced and urgently need food, clean water, medications, hygiene supplies, clothing and temporary shelter.

The affected communities are facing severe shortages of medical supplies, temporary shelter and other essential resources, making it extremely difficult for families to recover.

Meanwhile, my two nephews are traveling from Spain and Colombia to Venezuela. Their goal is to be with our family, assist during the ongoing search and identification efforts, and help provide direct support to relatives who have been displaced and are facing this humanitarian emergency.

Here in Oklahoma, my other sister, my nephew and I are doing everything we can to coordinate assistance from the United States. The emotional toll has been overwhelming, and our family is focused entirely on helping our loved ones through this crisis.

Funds raised through this campaign will be used to:

• Purchase food and clean drinking water for displaced family members.

• Purchase medications, first-aid supplies, hygiene products and other essential items.

• Help cover temporary lodging and emergency needs for relatives who lost their homes.

• Cover local transportation needed to deliver supplies and assist family members in the affected area.

• Help cover travel expenses for my two nephews as they make their way to Venezuela to support our family and assist during the ongoing search and identification efforts.

• Cover other emergency expenses directly related to supporting our family during this humanitarian crisis.

I am committed to providing updates as our family receives new information and as the funds are used to support our relatives during this emergency.
