My name is Josephine, and over the past few months, my health has taken a severe and life-altering turn. I suffered a heart attack that resulted in congestive heart failure, with a dangerously low ejection fraction of just 30%. I’ve also been diagnosed with a rare and serious heart condition called Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy (also known as “broken heart syndrome”). As a result of the heart attack, I’ve been left with kidney failure, liver failure, and a debilitating stomach disorder called gastroparesis, which causes constant pain and severely limits what I can eat. Since May, I’ve been completely unable to work and am mostly bedridden. The bills are piling up, donations will help cover rent, food, and the mounting medical costs. Before all of this, I was a devoted single mom doing it all on my own. I’ve lost both of my parents and have no real support system to fall back on. Life has become a daily struggle, and I wouldn’t ask for help if I didn’t truly need it. I’m now facing more medical testing and will need to travel to the Cleveland Clinic for specialized care.
