This is Josephine — a sweet, gentle 9-year-old cat who means the world to my daughter. Josephine came into our lives under heartbreaking circumstances. When my daughter’s father passed away, she inherited Josephine. Despite the complicated situation, my daughter’s heart wouldn’t let her leave Josephine behind. She’s always been an animal lover — the kind of person who rescues, fosters, and helps everyone else’s pets — and she knew this little cat deserved love and care, too.

Sadly, Josephine has been diagnosed with heart disease. In the past week, she’s been in and out of the emergency vet, spending the weekend under the care of specialists trying to stabilize her condition. Despite their best efforts, she’s now back in the ER again. The costs have quickly added up — nearly $10,000 so far — and the bills keep coming as Josephine continues to fight for her life.

My daughter has always given everything she has to help animals in need — now she is the one who needs help. We’re doing everything we can to give Josephine the chance she deserves, but we can’t do it alone.
