Help Joseph Study at Kenyon College

Hello everyone,
I hope you’re doing well. My name is Joseph, I’m from Egypt, and I’m currently a student at the African Leadership Academy in Johannesburg, South Africa.
On December 18th, I received the good news of getting accepted to Kenyon College in Ohio, USA, to study Chemistry, after years of preparing for the education I’ve always wanted to pursue. Kenyon offered me an incredibly generous financial aid package that makes attending possible, but there are still a few remaining costs that are a challenge for me and my family — mainly my visa, flight, and a portion of my tuition fees. That’s why I’ve created this GoFundMe campaign to raise $3,300 USD to cover these essential expenses and ensure a smooth start at Kenyon. Thankfully, Kenyon also allows me to work on campus, so I’ll be able to contribute toward my tuition once I’m there — this support is just to help me get started.
A little about me:
I’ve been playing piano for over eight years, and more recently, drums too. Music has always been a big part of my life — I’ve performed on some of the biggest stages in my region as a session musician, and I’ve also taught children in my community how to play the piano. Alongside music, I’m passionate about chemistry and sustainability. I’ve been working on a project called Qatrah, which aims to generate water from the air using renewable energy — my goal is to help develop more sustainable agricultural practices.
As one of my values is community, I also believe deeply in sharing opportunities with others. I created a Telegram and a YouTube channel to offer educational opportunities. I hosted Q&A sessions and essay-writing workshops. I created a space for students to learn and get help together by developing the #I_Got_In hashtag, where students share acceptance letters, insight on their application experience, and strengths. Through my channels, I provided 500+ educational opportunities, assisting 25,000+ Egyptian students in overcoming socioeconomic limitations to accessing educational opportunities.

Studying at the African Leadership Academy has been a major turning point in my life. It was my first time living outside my home country, and it helped me grow in so many ways. At ALA, I’ve worked as a Peer Counselor, University Guidance Intern, Director of Media & Communications for ALAMAU, and a Student Ambassador. I also created a project called IncludeMe, which helps make music education more inclusive for visually impaired learners.
Attending Kenyon will allow me to build on the impact I’ve been making since 9th grade — and I’m asking for your support to help make that possible. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story, and thank you in advance for any contributions or support you can offer. It truly means the world to me.
