Help Joseph Wintergerst Fix His Bike After Crash

Joseph is a full time Mechanical Engineering student with a 3.6 GPA at UCCS. He's always lending a hand to whoever needs it, and takes every opportunity he finds to volunteer. Currently, he is a volunteer coach at Cheyenne Mountain High School Mountain Bike Team. His birthday is next week and it breaks my heart to see him so sad, especially since he is usually such a happy and upbeat person.

On September 27th, he had a bike accident while volunteering at Pikes Peak Apex (24th-27th of September). While preparing the trail for the race, he crashed head on with a motorbike and his bike was destroyed: the fork and the frame which were damaged beyond repair. After two weeks of back and forth the people in charge of the race say their insurance won't cover for his bike, and our insurance won't either.

Thankfully as of now, he only suffered a concussion, scrapes and a few bruises, but unfortunately he has no way of repairing the bike or buying a new one since insurance won't pay for either repairs or a new bike. He has tried every other option to get the money to recover his bike, and has exhausted all of them. Our household is currently in quite a bind, with our dad recently having to apply for disability,  and with no income while we wait on the decision.

That is why we are humbly asking for your help through this GoFundMe campaign, hoping that with your help he can repair or buy a new bike.

I know that a lot of people appreciate, cherish and care for Joseph and many others are thankful for his labor in the community and it is my hope that on this occasion, you will be able to help out with what you can so Joseph can be back on his bike again as soon as possible, and back to helping the bike community in Colorado Springs. It would be a great birthday gift.

A local bike shop quoted the replacement at approximately 5,300 USD. This is the bike with which he won 2nd place at the Mountain Bike National Championship in 2019, which makes the loss even harder on him.

From the bottom of our hearts, we appreciate any help you can give, and we know Joseph will do to.
