On November 18, 2025, my partner Joseph was rushed to the ER because he suddenly couldn’t move his legs or back. After a CT scan, he was diagnosed with sciatica and we began chiropractic care and stretching at home. When he didn’t improve after a month, his chiropractor ordered an MRI, and we received devastating news: Joseph had a severe back infection (osteomyelitis) from L1-L5 S1. He was immediately admitted to Baton Rouge General, where he stayed for seven days. The doctors ran countless tests and treated him for a staph infection in his spine. When he was discharged, we began a long road of daily antibiotics through a PICC line, weekly home health visits, and physical therapy.

This illness has completely upended our lives. Joseph lost his job after his short-term disability ran out, and now we have no income. We are behind on rent and have been forced to leave our home of eight years. The medical bills are overwhelming, and Joseph still needs spine surgery. He won’t be able to work for at least six months after surgery, and the uncertainty has left us emotionally and physically drained. Joseph has always been the one to provide for our family, and it’s heartbreaking to see him unable to work or support us.

We are praying and hoping to raise enough to cover medical bills, food, and a roof over our heads while Joseph recovers. He has started the process of applying for SSDI and unemployment, but it’s a very slow process. ANY help or donation would mean the world to me and, most importantly, to Joseph.
