Help Joseph Bangura Stay in the US

My name is Joseph Bangura and I am from Sierra Leone, west Africa. I am a student at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I am majoring in Sociology because I want to empower myself to help people and set the road marks for the upcoming generation.

Ever since I started attending Aquinas College, I have felt at home and met wonderful people who have been friends and family. I volunteer as a student team manager for the Men’s Rugby Team. I am creating this GoFundMe because my family is facing financial troubles, and they cannot sponsor me at the moment. By creating this funding and getting your support, I will be able to financially afford my next semester and stay in the United States.

In my country, I am a youth activist and television presenter. Before attending Aquinas I would advocate every Saturday for my fellow youth and discuss a multitude of significant topics related to education and the importance of being in school. I am the co-founder of an organization in Sierra Leone known as The Adjustment City, a platform set to address issues faced by youth, promote their interest, and celebrate them and their accomplishments. While I have been studying in the U.S. I have remained an active member by conducting lives on our Instagram platform every month. I was chosen to represent my country at the 28th Session of the AFS Youth Assembly taking place in New York next year.

The drop of the local currency and a lack of response from the government has led to a significant increase in the cost of living. These recent events have caused families like mine to face important financial challenges. I have had to send some of the money I was making on campus when my mother got hospitalized. My family is not in a position where they can financially support me anymore, and my current tuition debt is putting me at risk of expulsion.
