Help Joseph Governale Rebuild His Life

Hello friends and family, my name is Joseph Governale. Many of you reading this may already know me, but for those of you that do not, I am a 41-year-old divorced single father who lives in Fairlawn, New Jersey. I work for the Department of Public Works for the city of Hackensack. But this past year has been one of the hardest years of my life. I am starting this GoFundMe for myself because of recent circumstances. A year that has literally brought me to my breaking point and not knowing where to turn for help any longer.

A little about what is currently going on. Over the course of the year, I have gone through a divorce and custody battle, and for those of you who have not been through that, it is not an easy thing to go through mentally and financially. Over the course of that year, I had owned my own business that provided for my family very nicely, but due to circumstances before and during the divorce, I no longer have the funds to continue the business, so I have lost the income from my business, which in turn forced me to look for work elsewhere. In that time of a job search, I had gotten a seasonal job with the Teaneck Department of Public Works, hence starting the career change and now being full-time in Hackensack where the pay is not so great. Over the course of this year, I have been working and doordashing and doing what I need to survive as best as I can, barely getting by and paying my bills.

Well, about a month ago now, the motor on my car went, and I no longer have a vehicle. My extra income has now vanished, and I have now been getting behind on my rent, car payment, my car insurance has lapsed and been canceled, and I’m possibly going to get my license suspended now if I don’t turn my plates and registration in before the end of the month. I need my license to be able to work. It has been a month now that I have not been able to pick my son up during the week for our scheduled visitations and only getting to see him every other weekend when my ex-wife’s family drops him off to me. I am getting close to the point where I am going to lose my apartment if I don’t start paying my back rent owed. I am in dire need of assistance and I do not ask lightly. If you know me at all, I do not ask for help ever unless it is dire. I try to figure things out on my own and do the best I can to come up with solutions. But I’m at a point right now that I can’t do that without getting a second job, and I can’t do that without getting my vehicle fixed.

The money raised in this GoFundMe will be going directly to fixing the motor in my car, which will range between $4,000-$5,000, getting new car insurance, re-registering the vehicle, and then whatever is left over will go to help pay the backed-up bills that have piled up due to not having a vehicle to be able to get a second job. If you can lend a hand to help me get back on my feet, I would greatly appreciate it. It would be helping me get my car fixed to be able to get a second job to continue to provide for myself and get myself in a better financial state, and it would allow me, most importantly, to pick my son up twice a week to have that father-son time that he desperately needs.
