Help Joseph Recover After an Unexpected Medical Emergency

Last week, Joseph's life changed completely and without warning.

Joseph is normally fit, healthy and incredibly active. You'll often find him up a mountain walking, in the gym, or simply enjoying an active life. This is what makes what happened even harder to comprehend.

Without any warning, Joseph developed severe abdominal pain and was taken to A&E. After an X-ray and CT scan, doctors discovered a serious perforation in his digestive system, meaning he needed emergency surgery.

Unfortunately, the perforation was much larger than initially expected and the surgical team were unable to complete everything they had hoped to. Joseph was then blue-lighted to The Royal Liverpool Hospital, where he was admitted to the critical care unit.

The care, skill and compassion of the NHS teams at both Glan Clywd hospital and The Royal Liverpool, who have looked after Joseph have been incredible and, quite simply, we are so grateful. They have saved his life.

Thankfully, Joseph is now stable and has been moved onto a ward at The Royal Liverpool.

However, he still has a long road ahead of him, with doctors expecting his hospital stay and recovery to take several weeks, potentially around eight weeks.

While Joseph's priority is, quite rightly, getting better, the reality is that such an unexpected and serious medical emergency brings a huge amount of financial pressure too. Being unable to work for an extended period, alongside the everyday costs and additional expenses that come with a prolonged hospital stay and recovery, can quickly become overwhelming.

With Joseph's permission, I've set up this fundraiser to help take some of that financial pressure away from him while he concentrates on getting better.

Joseph is incredibly grateful for every donation, no matter how big or small. Every contribution will make a genuine difference and help him focus on the one thing that matters most right now — getting well and, hopefully, getting back to the mountains and the gym.
