Help Jose through Surgery&Rehabilitation Process
Donation protected
I’m a wife and a mother of 4, Jose III, Jared,Maggie and Sandra. We couldn’t be more grateful to have them in our lives. We are a United family and that’s what gives us the strength to keep getting up and going.Right now we’re going through a tough time. My husband was electrocuted at work by a city high wire in Colorado City Texas the 29 of January, he has third degree burns to his right shoulder and left leg, which are the enter and exit wounds, he was quickly flown via helicopter to Lubbock,TX. where he has been getting treated since the accident. He had his first surgery the 16 of February with the idea that he’d have skin grafts but when they started surgery it was clear that there was more damage. With the second surgery there was some more removal of dead tissue and muscle. They put a wound VAC on off and on in between surgeries so it can help build up tissue being that his wounds are deep. He had his third surgery yesterday the 1st of March 2022. Because of the depth of the burn they decided to have a BTM (Biodegradable temporizing matrix) on his shoulder wound. Unfortunately for his leg, the damage was more extensive, his knee joint is exposed and his muscles are weak. He’ll need another surgery to do what they call a flap, meaning they will remove tendons from his calf and reconstruct his knee. We will then have to wait on indications of what is next to do. At the moment he is in much pain but understands that wound care and pain management could be difficult in his condition, especially because of his heart condition which is Wolff Parkinson White syndrome which is very rare. Another effect of the electrocution is that it affected his heart, it has a ejection fraction of a 25- 30%.
I am his strength, his hands and legs right now.
We are very lucky we still have my husband and the father of our children here with us.
This is so hard, as I’m writing this but I know that I would do anything for my family and I know that I have to speak up for help. It’s a long and expensive road ahead of us but we’re going to get through this one day at a time.
He will need a lot of home care that the hospitals asked me to have because he will be going home with the wound vacs and that is something that a home health care provider needs to do because I have no knowledge and am not certified to handle these machines.
The doctor says he will have a stiff leg and will need a lot of therapy to be able to walk even with a limp but to walk indeed.
Because of the accident it’s very difficult to work, giving I have to travel back and fourth from San Antonio to Lubbock to get his treatment and it’s making it very hard to think about everything to do and pay at this moment. He has been in the hospital for three weeks now and will be going on our fourth.
We would really appreciate any donation for my husband, he has the attitude and isn’t giving up! I know we will get through this and it’ll only make us stronger. I also want to thank my family and friends for all their support and their uplifting words. They truly help and give us strength. I’m so grateful with the doctors and nurses from the hospital giving that they have helped and made this heartbreaking and overwhelming experience a lot easier if we can say it like that. I try to put my best face on every day that I am here to give support and lift my husbands spirits, at times its too much to bare but I know we can make it.
Thank you for all your support
