Jose went to the Emergency Department on 12/31/25. He was diagnosed with pneumonia and influenza A. As Jose went home from the hospital, he later went back to the hospital as he was having a hardtime breathing and had a sporadic lung collapse.
Jose was admitted to United Hospital 2 and 1/2 days later. The hospital sedated Jose and ran a PICC line. After, two failed PICC lines, the third one worked but he was still in pain. They also found out that he had an infection on the outer part of his lung. Jose was then diagnosed with bacteria pneumonia and abscess on the outside and inside of his lung. After multiple failed attempts using IV antibiotics.
He had surgery yesterday to remove the infection from the outer part of his lung due to his body being resistant to the antibiotics. He had his PICC line removed today. He will be discharged Tuesday and he will have a PICC line added again and it will still be in him for 6 wks, this antibiotic treatment will help him fight this infection in his lung. He will not be able to work for 6 weeks or lift anything more than 10 lbs due to his PICC line, he will also need time to get physically strong to be able to go back to work.
He will need support with taking care of himself as far as help with bills until he can go back to work. Can we try and help Jose get back on his feet?
