Help Jose recover and get back home

Donation protected
Our sweet Jose has battled many obstacles in his 28 years of life. Even though Jose is disabled, he was still determined to work and help his family. After being diagnosed "legally blind", he could not get a license. That still did not stop him. He got himself a bike and rode to work multiple times a week. Jose was working for ken Vel construction here in Port Charlotte. On January 8th, he got up and headed to corner gas station like any other normal day. A woman who was driving without a license and no coverage, struck Jose from behind. While Jose laid unconscious in the road, his sister unknowingly drove by. Jasmin noticed the bike and the bag and stopped to see her sweet, loving brother, lifeless in the road. The woman who struck him just stood there unremorseful. Jasmin called her parents, who were able to arrive to the scene within 5 minutes. EMS picked up Jose and drove him to a field, close by, as they waited for a helicopter. When Jose sr. arrived to the scene the husband of the driver started yelling at Jose Sr, "that this never would have happened if Jose Jr was not on the phone". Jose's phone was off, in his back pack. Jose Sr, Lydia, and Jose Jr's family are destroyed. The driver did not have a license or insurance, therefore, there is no help with Jose's medical transportation cost. These cost are already over $50,000 and Jose is still in a coma. Jose's medical insurance is helping with some medical bills, but not all. Jose has suffered from a brain bleed and swelling and needed his skull cut to release pressure. He needs to wear a helmet until he recovers and then his skull can be fixed. Jose's eye sockets, jaw, and clavicle were fractured. His ear was torn off and needed to be reattached. He also suffered from a tear in his spleen. Jose has a long road to recovery. They can not guarantee Jose will wake up and if he does, if he'll ever be the same. The hospital has mentioned sending Jose home when he is stable, to continue care at home. As much as we want Jose home, we will need to get a medical bed, equipment, and need full time care for Jose. These are not fully covered by insurance.

We are asking if everyone could please pray for our son! We hate to ask for financial help, but we are in desperate need to help our son. If you can please spare a few dollars, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
The Rodriguez Family
