Help Jose Ibarra's Family Recover from this accident

Donation protected

On the afternoon of Sunday, September 1, 2024 a near tragedy struck Jose Ibarra Ruiz and his family from Salinas while they were travelling on Highway 101 near the Dunn Ave exit in Morgan Hill. Their vehicle was struck by an alleged drunk driver resulting in the family’s vehicle swerving off the highway and plunging into the canal running along Highway 101. Their vehicle landed on its side in the canal trapping all four of the family members inside the vehicle.

If it weren’t for the fast actions by the witnesses and those passing by who stopped to help rescue the family from their mostly submerged vehicle, the family would have perished in the accident.

Among the selfless heroes who stopped, one used a wench on his Jeep to help stabilize the vehicle, while four others(including two who couldn’t swim) raced into the water to help the family. They were able to first rescue Yamilet LopezMayorga. Then followed with the rescue of the two small children, Jeremias (16 months) and Everleight (3 yrs old), both of whom were not breathing at the time. Once on land, another group took over and worked on reviving the children until the First Responders arrived.
At the time Jose was finally able to be brought out of the vehicle, he was not breathing, thankfully the local First responders were then on the scene were able to revive Jose.

By the time they left the accident scene to go to the Hospital, all of the family members were breathing on their own. At the time of this writing, Yamilet and Jeremias were recovering at home and were soon to be joined by Jose and Everleight who are both in stable condition.

This GoFundMe account has been set up by Michael North and several others who were there at the accident scene to further assist the family with their financial needs during this time of recovery.

All donations to this fund will be graciously accepted on behalf of Jose and his family.
 Thank you!

Pudieron rescatar primero a Yamilet López Mayorga.
