Earlier this year our cousin Jose David was diagnosed with Wilson’s desease, a rare genetic disorder that causes copper to accumulate in the liver, brain and other vital organs.
In a matter of weeks, Jose David went from being a regular 16 year-old lively, charming and active teenager to being unable to walk, eat or bathe by himself. Over the last 5 months Jose David has developed severe neurological symptoms including tremor, involuntary movements, difficulty swallowing, slurred speech, lack of coordination and muscle rigidity. Copper has made its way to his brain and kidneys which makes his case even more aggressive. Jose lives in a small town 40 miles outside of Medellin, Colombia where specialty medicine is lacking. Jose’s parents are forced to take him to a hospital near Medellin three times per week for testing and treatment. As you can imagine, the cost of medication, transportation and specialty therapy is outrageous. Jose and his family could use all the financial support they can get.
Please consider making a donation to Jose and his family to afford him the opportunity to fight for his life. All donations will go directly to cover the cost of transportation, medication and durable equipment needed for Jose’s treatment.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity.
