Justice for Jorge Ruiz

Donation protected
19 year old Jorge  Ruiz, a legal Mexican immigrant, was sentenced to 99 years in Alabama State Prison by a jury of 11 whites, 1 black, and ZERO hispanics, for the same crime that many others have received 10 or fewer years.

After Jorge's family paid a $5,000 bond, local Sheriffs contacted ICE, and they detained him before he was able to be released. Jorge was then returned to county jail, and the bail bondsman kept his family's $5,000

This $5,000 was the last of the money his family had. Thus, the courts appointed him a public defender. Unfortunately, the public defender did very little to help his case.

The same judge that sentenced Jorge to 99 years in Alabama State Prison, is now entertaining a motion for a new trial, on grounds of ineffective council, and Jorge's case could now be heard again, giving him a second chance at justice.

Unfortunately, our country's legal system is broken, and Jorge can't receive justice alone. He needs your help! Every penny received from this gofundme campaign will support Jorge's legal expenses. After covering Jorge's legal expenses, if any funds are left, they will be donated to charity.
