Help Jorge Recover from Septic Shock

Updated at noon on Friday, May 30
The patient shows clear signs of improvement, which allows for the anticipation of his transfer from the Intensive Care Unit to an intermediate care unit at the end of the day.
Currently, his recovery is estimated at 70%. He is in a stable condition within a delicate clinical picture, remains conscious, and responds appropriately to stimuli. He continues under strict medical supervision.
Diagnosis: The patient experienced septic shock secondary to a bacterial infection.
The identified causal agent was the bacterium Vibrio parahaemolyticus, found both in blood cultures and digestive tract samples. This bacterium is known for being associated with contact with seawater or contaminated seafood products.
The patient also presents a case of cellulitis in the lower limbs.
Supportive measures have been initiated, including proper hygiene and targeted antibiotic treatment according to the antibiogram results.

We would also like to share that Jorge does not have medical insurance, and all expenses are being covered out-of-pocket. Unfortunately, we have run out of funds to continue the urgent treatment he needs in order to reach a stable condition and return to his home country of Ecuador.
To date, more than $15,000 USD has already been spent, and the financial burden has become unsustainable for the family and those supporting him. Any help—no matter how small—will make a difference in helping Jorge get through this critical stage.

We once again thank you for your support, your prayers, and the many expressions of solidarity shown daily by the community. They are giving JG great emotional strength to keep fighting and recover for all of you.
Thank you—thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
