Help Jordan’s Recovery Journey From A Traumatic Brain Injury
Donation protected
Dear Friends, Family & Community:
Blessings, my name is Desiree Boyd. I’m fundraising to help cover bills and aftercare for my son, Jordan Parks. My worst nightmare came to life on January 31, 2025, at 8:30 pm. Imagine working as a Bed Coordinator at a Level I Trauma Center and you get an order for a patient to go to the Trauma Intensive Care Unit (TICU)… And the patient is your son!
----- About the accident -----
On January 31, 2025, my son, Jordan, was coming home from work and became a victim of a car accident as a pedestrian in the midsection of East Utica Street and Richmond Avenue. Jordan sustained multiple head and eye injuries, road rash, but most concerningly, a severe traumatic brain injury, which left him in critical condition.
He was rushed to the Emergency Department at Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) and to the TICU, where he currently remains. At the hospital, Jordan underwent a CT scan, which revealed several skull fractures, all his facial bones were fractured, and swollen eyes, which left him blind in his left eye. He also had significant bleeding in his brain (Epidural Hematoma), causing dangerous pressure in the brain. Jordan underwent a craniectomy (brain surgical procedure), where he had the top of his skull removed in order to drain the blood from his brain and remove the blood clot that had formed. Jordan also has a tracheotomy, due to the multiple facial bone fractures. He is in a medically induced coma pending the swelling/bleeding and his reliance on a ventilator.
More than a week later, Jordan is closely monitored, still unconscious, sedated, and on a ventilator in the TICU. His condition is more stable, but there is a long road ahead to recovery. Obviously, Jordan won't be able to work for some time. At this point, the extent of the damage is unclear. What we do know is that after leaving the hospital, he'll be at an acute rehab facility. As bad as this nightmare is, we do not want it to get worse because of lack of resources. I want Jordan to have a fair chance. I know that will require a lot of care, friends, family, and resources.
----- Who is Jordan Parks? -----
Jordan is a kind, loving, funny, smart, free-spirited man, who was currently working in retail at StreeTgame because he is a sneakerhead and loves the gym. But his passion is photography. He is a self-taught photographer who loves capturing people’s most precious moments. You can always catch him outside, rain, sleet, hail, or snow, practicing his craft for perfection or at any event capturing the smiles of everyone.
----- How you can help Today -----
The road to recovery from a TBI is long, unpredictable, and challenging. Jordan will require intensive therapy, which can be very expensive, even with insurance. I am reaching out to our community for any support you can offer to Jordan with the financial burden of his recovery.
I've set up this GoFundMe campaign to help cover Jordan's extensive medical bills, surgeries, treatments, and therapy expenses. It’s been difficult to set a fundraising goal because recovery expenses can range from $60,000 to $3 million. Every dollar raised will go towards his recovery.
We genuinely appreciate any support you can provide, whether it's a donation, sharing this campaign with your friends and family, or simply keeping Jordan in your thoughts and prayers. Your kindness means the world to us, and we are deeply grateful for your help during this difficult time.
With heartfelt thanks,
