If we reach the goal, I will establish Mycopath Recovery as a nonprofit, bring together a founding team, and begin the research and planning for our first projects. I will pursue the required filings, seek qualified expertise, and organize the work around evidence and community needs.

WHY START NOW?

Environmental decisions can affect people far beyond today. A 2015 study of 2,120 children found that improving air quality was associated with better lung-function growth during adolescence. This is evidence that reducing pollution matters; it is not a measurement of Mycopath’s proposed methods.

The sooner we have the resources, the sooner we can gather the team, study the options, and begin learning what will work. Be part of the beginning: help build the organization and research that this mission needs.

WHAT WE WILL INVESTIGATE

LAND: Mycoremediation and plant-based approaches matched to specific soil contaminants. Some fungi can help break down certain organic pollutants under suitable conditions. Metals such as lead require capture, stabilization, or other management; fungi do not destroy them.

WATER: Selected plants, root-zone microorganisms, and treatment media, including rhizofiltration and constructed wetland approaches. Treatment design and water-quality testing would guide where these methods are appropriate.

AIR: Carefully designed vegetation and other nature-based approaches that may reduce exposure to particular pollutants. Plant selection, airflow, placement, and measured performance matter.

The skill I want to build into Mycopath is matching living systems to a clearly defined environmental problem, then measuring the result. Qualified experts, local knowledge, and transparent research will be central to the work. We will choose methods based on evidence and report what we learn.

HOW I PROPOSE TO USE $44,000

• $17,000 — Independent technical advice and limited laboratory work

• $7,000 — A small contained trial and appropriate waste handling, if feasible

• $6,000 — Nonprofit formation, research planning, legal advice, and insurance

• $5,000 — Initial monitoring and environmental data work

• $3,000 — Fund administration and payment costs

• $2,000 — Community engagement and research communications

• $4,000 — Contingency reserve

These are planning allowances, not vendor quotes. Qualified advice may change the scope and allocation. This startup goal covers formation and research; property acquisition, full-site cleanup, and construction would require further resources.

WHO RECEIVES THE MONEY

This is my personal fundraiser. I, Jordan Kristo, will receive funds through GoFundMe into my verified bank account for the nonprofit formation and environmental research described here. Mycopath Recovery is not yet registered. Contributions to me are not tax-deductible charitable gifts. Future tax-exempt recognition is a separate approval process.

LONGER-TERM RESEARCH INTERESTS

Beyond environmental restoration, I am interested in mushroom- and plant-derived compounds, including alkaloids, and their possible roles in mental and physical health. I also want to explore regenerative biology and stem-cell science with qualified researchers.

These are future research interests. Any health program would need its own scientific rationale, qualified clinical partners, separate funding, and applicable ethical and regulatory approvals. It is outside this $44,000 environmental research and formation budget.
