Hello friends and community,
Jordan’s journey over the past 7 months has been challenging. Many of you have followed his story and asked for ways that you can support our family. This GoFundMe was created at the request of friends and family to make it easier to help lend a hand where it is most helpful. Thank you for your support!
Background: Born with a bicuspid aortic valve that was diagnosed in early adulthood, Jordan has known for quite some time that he would eventually need heart surgery. This February, the time came for him to undergo open-heart surgery to replace the valve. Despite the surgery being successful, complications arose just two weeks later, with a serious GI bleed that required intensive care and 9 units of blood products to stabilize Jordan. This lead to an extended hospital stay and a very slow recovery. Jordan managed to recover enough to return to work full duty as a Paramedic in Portland, OR.
At his last post-op check in June for the February surgery, a new heart murmur revealed that Jordan’s new valve was leaking, and the only option to correct it was a second open-heart surgery, which was performed on August 29, 2024. While the surgery itself went well, and recovery was moving along, Jordan is now facing another setback: an abscess has developed at the incision site. He now requires an additional surgery, a 4th hospital stay, and wound care that will require multiple visits per week for 6 weeks post hospital stay.
Unfortunately, Jordan's critical illness policies do not cover any of these challenges, and his paid leave OR time was exhausted back in May. Both Jordan and his wife Kristin are running out of PTO and will be soon struggling to manage the mounting medical bills, travel expenses for frequent appointments, and daily living costs for their family of five.
The funds raised will go directly toward medical expenses, wound care visits, and supporting their family while Jordan continues to recover. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a significant difference.
Please consider donating and sharing this story with your network. Your support will help provide the relief Jordan and his family desperately need. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
