Help Jordan Heal and Seek Answers for Peanut

Donation protected
Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,

The night of June 11, 2024, was one of personal Hell for everyone in our family. Our sister Jordan was out walking her dog, Peanut, an American Bully and Bulldog mix, along with two other dogs she was boarding. What began as a routine walk ended in a tragic and unforeseen event, leaving Jordan with a severe brain injury and resulting in the devastating loss of Peanut, who was shot and killed.

What Happened

According to the police report, a couple living in a nearby apartment building heard a woman screaming and saw Jordan being physically attacked and dragged by the dogs. The police report also stated that the couple saw one of the dogs running towards them and assumed it wanted to attack, so the man drew his firearm and shot twice at Peanut. She died on the scene from her injuries.

At the hospital, a CT scan revealed a mid-line skull fracture and an epidural hematoma on the left side—life-threatening injuries that required immediate surgery. After speaking with medical staff, our family was informed that Jordan had no signs of being attacked by a dog—showing no bite marks, tears, or scratches on her body or clothing. This was in complete contradiction to the account described in the police report.

We firmly believe that in no way would any of the dogs, let alone Jordan’s own dog, have attacked her or instigated a fight with each other without being provoked by something or someone else. Additionally, Jordan has owned Peanut for over seven years and Peanut has never shown aggression towards Jordan or another person. Peanut’s death seems senseless and overreactionary, and we are still looking for answers. This remains an open investigation with the local police department.

Jordan’s Condition

Jordan’s condition quickly deteriorated while in the ER at a local hospital. Her attending doctors agreed that she would need to undergo emergency surgery to remove part of her skull in order to relieve the growing pressure on her brain caused by the bleeding. She also had several bruises and scrapes consistent with falling and possibly being dragged, but, again, no signs of dog bites or otherwise being attacked by an animal. Jordan remained in the surgical ICU (SICU) in stable condition after the surgery but is now home and starting the long road to physical and emotional recovery. While her physical wounds were addressed, she has no memory of the actual incident in its entirety and we are unsure if that will ever be restored. Emotionally, we can only imagine what she is trying to process. We do know that she is loved beyond measure, Peanut was our family too, and we are committed to making sure Jordan is able to move forward from this.

Our Goal

We are seeking to raise money to cover Jordan’s living expenses and mounting medical bills. These funds will be used for:

                 •              Medical Expenses: Covering the cost of surgeries, hospital stays, rehabilitation, and ongoing medical care.
                 •              Living Expenses: Jordan is self-employed, with her main source of income coming from the animal care services she provides. She has already been unable to work for several weeks, and it is still too early to determine if she will be able to resume a full-time routine in the near term. These funds will help Jordan maintain her home and support her basic needs while she is unable to work.
                 •              Therapy and Recovery: Funding physical, occupational, and mental wellness therapy to help Jordan regain her strength, independence, and confidence.

A Personal Message

Jordan is a loving and compassionate person, especially towards animals. Peanut was a rescue dog who had been returned multiple times before finding her forever home with Jordan. Peanut had a sunny personality, was full of energy, and had the biggest, bravest heart. Jordan’s love and dedication gave Peanut the chance to thrive and be happy. Through her relationship with Peanut, Jordan has continued to foster strong bonds with the many dogs she cares for. This tragic event has left her and our family heartbroken, but we are determined to support her through this challenging time.

We are deeply grateful for your thoughts, prayers, and contributions. Thank you for being a part of Jordan’s journey to recovery.

With heartfelt thanks,
