Help Jordan Get a Life-Saving Seizure Dog

Seizure Dog for Jordan’s Survival

Hello! My name is Jordan and I’m 21 years old. I am asking for help towards getting a seizure alert/response dog so that I can try to live a normal life again. Since being diagnosed with epilepsy, the seizures have evolved from dazed and confused, to jerking movements and struggling to breathe, all while unconscious. I have had to give up my independence and my dream of becoming a neurosurgeon. This has made me have to redirect my passion into a career that my diseases will allow me to do successfully. Even now, I would be entering my first year of grad school, but because of my uncontrolled epilepsy I have to take a gap year with the hope of starting 1 year from now. With effective medication, my seizures will never fully stop because of the effects of all of my other diseases.

I have several different autoimmune and chronic diseases:
  • Epilepsy - being the hardest to manage because I have three different types of seizures:
1.) Epileptic
2.) Migraine
3.) Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS)

You can imagine how frightening this is to me and my family, as it is something I can die from if I am not treated in a specific time frame. Unfortunately, this means my seizures occur in my sleep as well. The problem with this is no one knows if I am having a seizure because there is no way to alert anyone, this is one of the ways the dog will be helpful.

  • Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS)
  • Ehlers Danlos Syndrome
  • Celiac Disease
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Adult Onset Still's Disease
  • Gastroparesis
  • Endometriosis
  • Mast Cell Activation Syndrome
  • Chronic migraines

The seizure response/alert dog costs anywhere from $60,000-$100,000 to train and can take 1 to 2 years before I will receive him. The cost for me will be $25,000 which covers the dog and any other travel expenses pertaining to training. The dog will begin his schooling when he is 3-6 months old and will have to go through a rigorous amount of training to be able to alert/respond in any type of situation without distraction. Once graduated from the program, he will “work” for 8 years and then retire at the age of 10. This means I will only have him alerting/responding to me for 8 years before I have to start the process all over again.

So I humbly ask for any size donation you may be able to give.

Any proceeds received above the amount needed will be donated to the organization for the next service dog in training.

Thank you for your generosity!
