My name is Jonathan Grigg, I am 23 years of age and have a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy. I have just been selected in the Australian Powerchair Hockey National team.
I have been playing various competitive wheelchair sports since the age of 12. Recently, I was selected in the SA State team where we competed for the first ever National Championship, which was held in Sydney. This was a great privilege and something I had only ever dreamt of.
I've now had the honour of being selected to represent Australia at the IPCH - IWAS Power Hockey World Championships in Lignano-Sabbiadoro, Italy. The tournament runs from September 21st-Oct 1st, 2018.
There are great costs associated with this, and even more costs due to my disability.
Between then and now, there’s about 5 months to train with the team (who are from around Australia), as well as finding a way to cover the costs of travel for training, costs for travel to and from the competition itself, accommodation in Lignano-Sabbiadoro, as well as those same costs for carers to support us while we’re in Italy competing.
Any support you can give me will be greatly appreciated!
