Six years ago, my parents were put in the position of having to raise my two
nephews, Joey and Jonathon. Jonny was born with a neurological injury called bilateral schizencephaly. This condition means he will have severe disabilities and will require 100% care for his entire life. Although his original prognosis was not promising he has thrived and continues to radiate joy to all those who meet him.
One of the current difficulties my parents are facing is that as Jonny grows it is becoming more and more difficult to move him, and navigating climbing stairs to put him to bed is becoming increasingly dangerous. For the past few years, they have been trying to get Medicaid to cover a stairlift for their home and as many families of disabled children can attest, Medicaid often provides more obstacles than solutions.
At this time it makes more sense to bypass Medicaid and raise the necessary funds for my parents to buy and install a stairlift. This will improve Jonny’s day-to-day care and provide peace of mind to my parents as they continue to raise him.
If you would be willing to donate, my family would be forever grateful. ♥️
