Update: Hey everyone , I wanted to give you all an update on Michael since I’m not able to message everyone back since I just got home. I will be unable to walk for some time due to multiple surgeries I’ve had, every day is a test of my body to get out of bed and get to the hospital where I sit with Michael for hours. I am working hard with therapy and each day doing more and more. Unfortunately Michael also has a very long road of recovery ahead of him as his body is fighting so hard to recover from the accident and trying to heal . Michael is paralyzed and only time and rehab will show us what he is able to regain. Michael is going to be getting a trach sometime next week hopefully, even though he takes breaths on his own they want him to have full breathing support so he does not have any set backs or breathing insufficiency as he rehabilitates. We were not prepared for this life changing experience and it’s all so new to us and we will not be back to work anytime soon with Michael still in the icu. Michael is stable and doing better we are just waiting on him to heal more to move forward on him going to a different floor and being one step closer to coming home . If your able to donate we would appreciate it so much but if your only able to share the go fund me we would greatly appreciate and we understand ! We now are faced with needing a handicap accessible vehicle as well as making modifications to our home for him. We appreciate so much everything the west side, the community, and football community has done for us. We can never thank you enough. Please continue praying for our sweet baby boy. You have helped so much just in prayer alone for him and doing that protected our son ❤️. Michael is so strong and is fighting so hard and we WILL get through this if anyone can it’s him ! We got over the most scary part of it all and it’s nothing but better things after this!!! #STAYSTRONG17 ❤️ - jonni (Michaels mom)
Hello, my name is Ashley.
My daughter-in-law and grandson were involved in a horrific crash that has left our family devastated. Jonni (daughter-in-law) sustained significant injuries: a broken hip, knee, ankle, femur, and shoulder arm break. My grandson is currently in ICU with a lacerated abdominal aorta and bowel damage, removal of 2/3 of his small intestine, and has been put into a sedative state to keep as much brain swelling down as possible.
Thanks to the amazing souls who performed CPR on my grandson until EMS arrived because he was not breathing, thanks to the EMS squad who intubated him and started breathing, and thanks to the amazing doctors and nurses at Children's Hospital who single-handedly resuscitated him, repaired his laceration, and continue to do their best for the best possible outcome for him!
Jay and Jonni are a two-income family now down to no income. Jay will be with Michael until he is stable and Jonni until she is able to walk again, caregiving for both and unable to return to work. Jonni is a CNA who has devoted her past 3 years to health care. Jay and Jonni help anyone out in need they can, and I'm sure they will be most appreciative of any donations and all prayers and well wishes.
Michael is an active loving 7-year-old boy who has been active in football and basketball at JF Dulles in oak hills for 1st and soon to be second grade. He was so excited about starting second grade. He loves playing Fortnite and Roblox and cheering on Joe Burrow and Jamar Chase every Sunday during football season.
The road to recovery will be long and they can use all the help they can get. Please, if you are able to help them out or just share, we will be most grateful. Anything extra will go to their long road to recovery as we don’t know when they will be able to return to work.
