Hello, My name is Jonathon Mills, and I owe my life to weight loss surgery!

I’ve spent my whole life battling with my weight. I’ve always been a big guy, very outgoing and extroverted, and grateful to have had all the experiences God has given me over the years. I’ve gained and lost more weight than I could ever keep track of, and that struggle has always been a roadblock to so many things.

There were so many factors that contributed to my weight issues - I was hit by a drunk driver at 16 years old and spent years trying to recover from that! My wife and I lost our first child, and I can definitely say I did not take care of myself for a long time after that. Our youngest son was born with severe cleft lip and palate issues, and I just focused all my attention on trying to take care of my family and just stopped paying attention to myself at all.

I blame no one but myself - and at one point, I was close to, if not well over 500 pounds! The scales at the doctor’s office couldn’t weigh me anymore. I was diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation 12 years ago, and my doctors just didn’t know how much more my heart could take. I was dying a slow, sleep apnea-laden, exhaustive death, and my family was having to watch. When I broke numerous toilet seats just trying to sit down in the bathroom, I knew I had to do something, or my days were truly numbered.

That’s when I went to Roller Weight Loss, and my life changed completely! The surgery I was blessed to have absolutely saved my life, and made it possible for me to start living life again. I lost about 250 pounds total from my largest weight. My wife has been so supportive, and it’s been so wonderful to be able to play with my kids and shovel the snow and just be present with my family every day! Thank you, Dr. Roller!

There are a few drawbacks - of course, losing that much weight leaves its mark on you, or rather, skin and tissue left behind. It’s a consequence I was happy to deal with until it became something that was causing more harm than anything else. I fell a year ago during an ice storm, and a lot of the skin and tissue still hanging on my body pulled away from bone and muscle, leaving me with injuries that took months to heal. Every time I moved, sneezed, or even breathed, the muscles would pull or tear slightly, and I walked around in constant pain for so many months. This couldn’t continue, and I needed to find a permanent solution to this problem.

That’s where skin removal surgery comes into play. We found an excellent doctor who specializes in this kind of work, and he explained the entire process to us. We had to get on the surgery schedule last June, so we will have waited an entire year by the time I have this done. We are so excited that I have the opportunity to get this done for my health, but we cannot do it alone. Insurance will not help out with this procedure in any way, and the entire procedure will cost $18,000.

This is where you come in. We are putting this out in public for everyone to see, for all our family and friends to know about, and to humbly ask for anyone who can to help us out.
