Help Jonathon Heal After Hit-and-Run

Hello all. I’m Paige, Jonathon’s sister. As some of you may know, Jonathon was hit by a truck while riding his bicycle home from work on January 22 and suffered severe injuries. Jonathon sustained a brain bleed, fractures in his forehead and around his eye, lesions, a shattered nose completely blocking his airways on both sides, perforation to his sinuses, and broken teeth, among the minor injuries. He required stitches across his forehead, complete reconstructive surgery to his nose, and will require ongoing follow-up appointments along with getting his teeth removed and replaced. We are incredibly lucky he survived, but this has also put immense financial strain and stress on my brother and our family.
The man who hit my brother did not stop. He left my brother laying in the road, and we still don’t know how long he was there before he woke up and called my parents. He was tracked down later with the work of detectives at Riverside PD, but he is uninsured and is facing felony charges and won’t be helping my brother with the injuries he caused. Jonathon also does not have access to health insurance.
On top of the injuries and work that has been missed or will be missed for medical appointments and legal proceedings, Jonathon lost his transportation to work (his bike), his coat, his shoes, and his headphones.
If you don’t know my brother, he is a quiet man who goes to work, comes home, plays his games, and loves cats. Jonathon was just trying to get home from work, and now his life has been changed by someone else’s behavior.
