Help Jonathan with his mum's funeral in Ireland
Donation protected
Maria Rellis passed away at home on 14th July 2020 after a major stroke. She first became ill in 2014 when she suffered from a subarachnoid aneurysm. This lead to subsequent strokes over the following years causing speech and motor issues. Her devoted son Jonathan always did his best to help her maintain her independence and regain her speech and motor skills.

Running a small gardening company, Green Arrow Gardening, with his partner Joanne, they juggled the day to day gardening work with all business admin plus still being home as often as possible to help Maria.

With the rest of their family in Waterford, Ireland, Maria and Jonathan were always very close as a single mum raising an only child. So, Jonathan never felt burdened looking after her and always worked hard to help pay bills while battling against the trials and tribulations of running your own business; vans breaking down, tools breaking and needing replacing, unexpected costs! He and Joanne always found time to take Maria out and keep her mind active.

Although Maria had been ill, her passing was sudden and still unexpected. This has left Jonathan not only dealing with the grief of losing his mum, but having the financial burden of getting her back to Ireland and giving her the funeral in Waterford she wanted.

Their family in Ireland have had to deal with 3 deaths in the past year, with two of Maria's brothers dying just two days apart in December. This has left the family unable to fully financially contribute to another funeral so soon. They have managed to get some fees covered, but still need to pay for repatriation to Ireland, the hearse, funeral directors fee, coffin, church offering, priest, music, obituary notice and the cost of a burial plot.
This all adds up to £7000.
That is before taking into account costs of Jonathan and and Joanne getting over to Ireland to organise and attend the funeral. Then there is income completely lost as both Jonathan and Joanne have to take time away from the business to grieve, deal with logistics and travel to Ireland.
Maria was always incredible kind and caring. For years we played host to friends from the parkour community around the world. Many mums might not be so keen on having groups of guys crashing on the sofa every summer chatting loudly about their day of training, but she always made them feel welcome even cooking breakfasts and roast dinners for them! Friends from around the world have been in touch saying how fondly they remember their time here and how lovely Maria was.

Anyone close to Jonathan will know that he is incredibly kind and compassionate and would do anything to help his friends. So although we can't take away his grief, we can try and ease the financial burden that this awful time is placing on him and Joanne! Anything you can give will be a weight off their shoulders!
Thanks in advance for anything that you can give!
