Help Jonathan & Shantelle's Love Story

G'day! We are Jonathan and Shantelle, and this is the story of how an American and an Australian fell in love an ocean apart, what their plans are for their future, and how you can help make their dreams come true!

It all began in 2008, when Jon, an American from Minnesota, was extremely hyped for the upcoming Indiana Jones movie “Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.” It was on a fan website that he first met Shantelle, an Australian from New South Wales, who was also a die-hard fan of the movies. Our friendship soon crossed over to Facebook, where over the course of a decade, we discovered a powerful bond. We were there for each other in dark times, gave each other joy and validation we’d never known, and ignited in the other a new appreciation for life’s wonders. We knew we were in love, but we still had yet to meet in-person.

This finally happened in September 2023, with Jon taking the big flight to Australia. We have been a committed couple ever since, with further meetings happening in May and December 2024, and most recently April 2025, with each time reaffirming and strengthening our connection. And so, we are now ready to fix the biggest hurdle in our relationship: the distance. Jon is ready to move to Australia, to forever be with the love of his life, but he needs help to make this transition happen.

Our plan is to apply for the Partners Visa, which will allow Jon to start living in Australia with Shantelle as his sponsor. This will require an upfront, non-refundable submission fee of $5,830.46 in USD (according to the exchange rate as of May 30th, 2025), as well as a further fee of $2,000 to acquire the help of an immigration lawyer.

Our goal is to begin the application process by December 2025, and we want to have all of the money we need ready before then. Because once we officially begin the application process (compiling our documents and proofs with the lawyer’s help), a ticking clock begins: Jon is required to move down to Australia and be officially living with Shantelle within six months, and the application must be fully completed, paid for and submitted at the end of those six months.

So we need all the help we can get to raise the combined costs of the Partners Visa & the immigration lawyer fee, at approximately $7,800 USD. If we can accomplish our goal before December, Jonathan can begin his move down under during that month, and we’ll be settled in with each other by the visa submission deadline of June 2026.
