Help Jonathan Recover After Fire Loss

Donation protected
This is a fundraiser for my brother, Jonathan, an Air Force Veteran who lost his residence in the Pacific Palisades Fire - a neighborhood where he has lived for more than 20 years. Our family is grateful that he made it out safely. We set up this page to support him as he recovers from this devastating loss. Aside from a few personal items he put in his car, everything else is now a mound of ash. Here's a link to Jonathan’s IG with his footage of the fire as it swept through his neighborhood.

Jonathan didn’t think of himself in this emergency. When the Palisades Fire was encroaching, instead of spending those precious few hours focused on packing for evacuation, Jonathan was helping his neighbors. He gave them rides, helped them check on their homes, left room in his car for his landlady’s things, and he did his best to convince reluctant neighbors to evacuate. That’s Jonathan. He will always be the last one standing when everyone else gives up (listening, working, helping, believing). Jonathan's generosity of spirit and selfless courage are truly admirable. He continues to serve his community long after serving our country in uniform.

Not everyone in the Palisades is a millionaire. And not everyone has a spouse to help support their family. We often don’t think of single people in these times, but they are worthy of our care. Jonathan lived in a 1-bedroom apartment on the ground floor of his landlady’s residence. She lives alone but she kept the rent very affordable, partly because she loved having Jonathan there. He kept an eye on the house and would troubleshoot/fix little things around the property. He cares for those around him. And we’re pretty sure his landlady enjoyed hearing his beautiful melodies floating up to her place.

Jonathan is a brilliant musician and composer who works from his home studio. His music can be heard in independent films, movie trailers, TV, video games, and even a United Nations special event. Though he is tirelessly dedicated to his craft, Jonathan makes a humble living as a musician. It’s a tough business, but he never gives up. He lives simply, spending free time hiking in the Santa Monica Mountains, enjoying local wildlife, or swimming in the ocean. Those days are gone. The lush green foliage along the hills are gone. His home is gone. And without his landlady’s generosity, his future expenses will likely triple.

Jonathan would never ask for help. He is a strong survivor. But we know that living in Los Angeles is a costly endeavor. As a lovely alternative to donating here, consider purchasing Jonathan’s new album Emergence or beautiful piano album Elysium - you can fill in the amount you’d like to pay for Elysium or you can give it as a gift as well!

We hope you can contribute any amount to support Jonathan's recovery. Jonathan worked from home, so he lost his studio space. Although he was able to save the most important studio gear, he will need to purchase other gear he lost, find a home to set up his studio, and get back to making the music we love!

Thank you for your support and may you and your families be well and safe!
