On Saturday December 19th Jonathan went into urgent care for jaundice and they found a mass in his pancreas. The biopsy results confirmed that the mass on his pancreas is cancerous and the cancer has spread to a nearby lymph node.
Jonathan has appointments set up with surgeons and oncologists at Abbot Northwestern in Minneapolis. They are also working on trying to get a second opinion at Mayo in Rochester. Unfortunately, because of the timing of the holidays they won't know much until Monday or Tuesday of next week.
There is currently a lot of unknowns and the outlook for pancreatic cancer is typically not good. However, Jonathan is not typical, he has the type of faith in God that can move mountains. Anyone who has met Jonathan will recognize his incredible strength. He has always lived his life with the highest degree of character, integrity, kindness, and faith in Christ that gives you hope.
Jonathan is blessed to have a strong support system with his wife Salem, parents John and Kathie, brother Mark, sister Kariann, and countless friends and family who love, support him, and are praying fervently for him.
While the prognosis is scary, we have full confidence that God is the ultimate healer. "Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise." - Jeremiah 17:14
Please consider donating to help ease the substantial financial burden for Jonathan and Salem during these uncertain times. The expenses are going to be vast. They will be responsible for medical bills, chemo, surgery, transportation, and travel expenses. Jonathan is their only source of income and will not be able to work for the foreseeable future.
If you are not able to help financially, prayers for clarity on the pathology report, approval for the referral to Mayo and that insurance is able to help provide coverage at Mayo, and ultimately for healing are greatly appreciated.
Jonathan and Salem are in a state of peaceful trust. They are thanking the Lord for each moment, and so thankful for all of the support and love sent their way.
