Update - February 15th, 2026
In Loving Memory of Jonathan Iheke
With heavy hearts, we share that Jonathan Iheke peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, after a courageous and hard-fought battle with Renal Medullary Carcinoma (RMC).
First and foremost, our family would like to say thank you. To everyone who donated, shared this page, prayed, encouraged, and stood beside Jonathan during his fight — we are forever grateful. Your generosity helped cover medical treatments, hospital stays, daily living expenses, and allowed Jonathan to focus on fighting with everything he had.
Jonathan fought valiantly against this rare and aggressive cancer. Even on his hardest days, he carried himself with strength, grace, and unwavering faith. No matter what he was feeling or facing physically, he continued to uplift others, offer encouragement, and show gratitude.
Transition to Memorial & Funeral Support
As we navigate this unimaginable loss, we are closing this account and opening a memorial fund to help cover funeral and memorial expenses and to support the family during this time.
If you feel led to continue supporting, we are deeply thankful. If you are unable to give, sharing this page and keeping our family in your prayers means just as much.
Jonathan’s life made an impact. His strength, faith, humor, and love will continue to live on in all of us.
-----------
I never imagined I’d be writing these words, but our family is asking for help as my cousin Jonathan Iheke fights for his life. Jonathan has always been the one with a steady heart and a quiet strength, and now he needs all of us to be that strength for him.
Jonathan was diagnosed with an extremely rare and aggressive cancer called Renal Medullary Carcinoma (RMC). This came out of nowhere and has completely changed his world. He now needs help covering chemotherapy, medical care, and the many expenses that come with fighting something this serious.
The journey ahead is tough on every level. Anything you are able to give, or even sharing this page, will truly make a difference for him.

Life Before Diagnosis
Jonathan is 32 years old and engaged to the love of his life. He is known for his God-fearing presence, his sense of humor, and the way he pours into the people he cares about. He has always taken care of his health, lived a balanced lifestyle, and had no warning signs that anything was wrong.
He is the guy who shows up for people, who puts God and family first, who always has a smile and who un-ironically posts motivating quotes because he is really always in that great of a mood. And right now, he needs us more than ever.

How Everything Changed
Everything shifted the day he noticed blood in his urine. After several tests, doctors first believed he had a more common type of kidney cancer. It was only after further evaluation that he received the correct diagnosis of Renal Medullary Carcinoma. This cancer is so rare that many have never heard of it, and it primarily affects young African American men who carry the sickle cell trait.
Jonathan has since had part of his kidney removed, followed by a biopsy that confirmed the diagnosis. He is being treated by Texas Oncology, with guidance from a specialist at MD Anderson. Despite surgery and ongoing care, the tumor has continued to grow and new spots have developed. He has also been dealing with ascites and recently spent a full week in the hospital due to complications.
This week, he is starting the first of up to three rounds of chemotherapy, with the hope that the treatment will shrink the tumors enough for doctors to safely remove his kidney.

Why We Are Asking for Help
Jonathan wants to bring awareness to this rare cancer, especially because it affects people who often do not realize they are at risk. If his story can help even one person get answers sooner, he would feel like he made a difference. That is who he is, even while fighting for his life.
Your donation will go directly toward his medical treatments, bills, and day to day expenses while he is unable to work. If you cannot donate, sharing this page helps more than you know
"Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him." - James 1:12 (NLT)
