Hello to all of you lovely people. My little brother, Jonas Bond, was hit by a car last Friday (10/16) and has been in the hospital since. His injuries were significant and life-threatening. He sustained an internal decapitation (!), TBI, a broken/mangled foot, a lacerated kidney, road rash all over his left side, and more on top of that. Please join us in giving him the best chance to live a healthy life.

The driver did not stop, just left him there on the side of the road like a piece of roadkill. CHP is investigating this as a felony hit-and-run because the driver couldn't be bothered to stop and help. It's a miracle that the neck injury didn't kill him or leave him paralyzed from the neck down without medical attention for that long.

Even when he leaves the hospital, he will still have a long road ahead of him. He'll need to go to a long-term physical therapy facility. He could require further care just to help him with the activities of daily living. We don't know yet how the TBI will affect him. We're hoping to be able to cover any surprise expenses that might come up.

Unfortunately, as we all know, medical care is not cheap. Especially such significant care. He does have insurance (MediCal) but it will not cover everything. There will be out of pocket costs for the hospital stay, and a lot more for the physical therapy facility.

He is only 22 years old and should have such a bright future ahead of him. This event could, unfortunately, alter the course of his life in a majorly negative way. He could be facing loss of movement in parts of his body. We won't know the true extent of his injuries until he gets into physical therapy. We're just trying to help this kid live his life as any healthy 22 year old should be able to.
