Help 14-Year-Old Jonas Get the Treatment He Needs to Survive
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Agustina, and I’m from a small town in Argentina called Roberts, with just 4,000 residents. In a place where access to medical care is extremely limited and resources are scarce, even the smallest health issue becomes a battle — and for Jonás, it’s been a battle from the very beginning.
Jonás is 14 years old and has been fighting for his life since he was 9 months old. He was diagnosed with sideroblastic anemia, a rare blood disorder that prevents his body from producing healthy red blood cells. Since then, he has needed blood transfusions every 15 days to survive.
Over time, this constant need for transfusions has caused severe iron overload in his heart, damaging his organs and causing new complications: high blood pressure, seizures, and kidney failure. Just last weekend, after celebrating his 14th birthday with joy, Jonás collapsed and had to be rushed to the hospital.
But this is not the first tragedy Jonás has faced.
A year and a half ago, he lost his mom to leukemia. She was his greatest support, and since then, he’s been living with his dad and younger siblings, a humble family doing everything they can to stay strong, but now they are overwhelmed by a situation that is simply too much to face alone.
Jonas urgently needs to start an intravenous treatment that requires him to be hospitalized for at least a month in La Plata, a city that is 5 hours from our town. This treatment is critical, but the family faces the challenge of being so far from home. There is no direct public transportation every day, which makes traveling an enormous challenge both in time and cost.
On top of that, there are additional expenses for transportation, accommodation, and food for Jonas’ dad and siblings as they stay with him during his hospitalization. These costs are extremely difficult for his family to bear, and they simply don’t have the resources to cover everything.
How you can help:
- Transport and fuel to take Jonas and his dad
- Food and accommodation during the hospital stay
- Additional medical expenses and recovery costs
Living in a small town, so far from the city, makes everything slower, more expensive, and more painful. Jonas has fought so hard for so long — and now he needs our help to access the urgent treatment that can save his life.
If you can donate, no matter the amount, you’re giving Jonas the chance to keep going.
If you can’t, sharing this campaign helps us reach more people.
Thank you for helping us give Jonas a chance. Your support means the world to him and his family.
