Help Jonah to Afford Gender-Affirming Surgery!

Hi! My name is Jonah (He/Him), I'm a 19-year-old university student, and I am looking for help to afford an upcoming surgery!

I am transgender, and as a part of my personal gender transition, I am hoping to get what is called a "gender-affirming double masectomy" or more commonly known as 'top surgery'. I've been working close with a clinic for a while now, and in 2 weeks I am supposed to get my surgery date, which will likely be this summer (Summer 2025)!

I have been waiting for this surgery for the better part of a decade, ever since I have had the language to describe myself as a trans man. For me, this is the biggest step in my transition, and it is by far the most important goal for me at this stage in my life.

Unfortunately, due to the specific nature of my specific circumstances, insurance will not be able to cover the majority of the bill. This leaves me with the sole responsibility of one of the surgeons' fees, any applicable facilities fees (anasthesisa, prescribed medications, post-operative supplies etc.), as well as the cost of room, board, and travel for the 12 days I will need to stay close to the clinic before and after surgery.

I have been saving for this surgery for years, working part-time through university to chip away at it, and taking on extra work through selling my art. I currently have just enough to cover the surgery itself, but as it stands I would not be able to comfortably afford the entire trip.

The campaign goal is currently set to $6,750, which would entirely cover the cost of the surgeon's fee I mentioned earlier. I am using that as a benchmark, but please understand that ANY donations, big or small, would help ease the burden. Any money gathered from this campaign would go to the entire cost of the trip, including all the extraneous costs I've outlined above. Coupled with my savings, my part-time job, and freelance art, I hope to be able to comfortably afford to finish this chapter of my transition as soon as this summer.
