Help Jonah get to U24 worlds!
Donation protected
Hi everyone! my name is Jonah Malenfant and I'm originally from Saint Paul, Minnesota, but I currently live in Townsville, QLD Australia. Most of you know that I've been playing ultimate for almost as long as I can remember, but you may not know that ultimate has led me to be selected to represent Australia at the Under-24 world championships in Heidelberg, Germany!
I am currently a student at the University of Minnesota pursuing a bachelor's degree in forestry, but since July I have been abroad studying at James Cook University in Australia. I started playing ultimate when I was 13 and immediately fell in love with the sport. It has always been my dream to represent a country at a national level and when I moved to Australia I did everything in my power to make it a reality. ultimate has been one of the major driving forces in my life and something that I take into account when making decisions. I decided to extend my study abroad trip to a full year in order to get the opportunity to try out for the Australian U24 team. When I extended my study program I didn't even know if I would be allowed to try out and I was lucky enough to be given a chance to try out and offered a spot on the team.
My team will compete at the Under-24 world ultimate Championships from July 13th-20th in Heidelberg, Germany, and there are a number of costs associated with the campaign:
Melbourne training camp: $250
New Zealand National Championship pre-tournament: $650
Training camp 2 at TBA location: $250-350
Training camp 3 at TBA location: $250-350
Flights to Germany: $1000
Under 24 World Championships: $2000
Accommodations and Misc: $650-750
Total: $5000+
These expenses fall on the players, with anything else being covered by the team. As most of the young players on the team are students, funding this opportunity can be difficult. However, I don't want to play the victim here as I knew the rough costs of this campaign before I decided to pursue it.
That being said, I would certainly appreciate anything you can do to help me realize this dream and help me represent Australia on the highest stage in Heidelberg. Any help you could provide to assist me in reaching my goal of $5000 by June 17th would mean so much to me and I would forever be grateful.
If you have any additional questions about the campaign or my journey to get there please feel free to message me on GoFundMe or any other platform. Thank you so much for your time and for expressing interest in my journey.
Forever thankful,
Jonah
