Help Jon Gonzalez's Family in Their Time of Need

Jon Gonzalez was an amazing father, husband, son, friend, and one of the most passionate advocates for our company and commercial fishermen we've ever known. Jon passed away suddenly on September 24th, leaving behind his wife Bronte and their 1 -year-old daughter Beretta.

Jon’s journey was remarkable. Originally from Santa Barbara, California, he started as a graphic designer and skateboarder. His deep involvement in environmental work led him to rescue injured sea mammals, including a blind sea lion named Squirt, who still lives at Moody Sea Gardens near our Galveston plant. However, Jon’s passion for fairness and justice drove him to defend commercial fishermen, after seeing them unfairly blamed by some organizations.

Jon's dedication was unparalleled. Despite no formal experience in government affairs or commercial fishing, he began attending fishery management meetings to advocate for fishermen. His advocacy quickly gained attention, and he even created eatusseafood.com to promote the industry on his own time. His talent and commitment eventually led him to a dream role with us at Pacific, where he fought tirelessly for the rights and livelihoods of commercial fishermen. Jon’s contributions over the past eight years were transformative.

From helping pass federal relief laws for seafood businesses during the pandemic to preserving key fisheries and protecting our team members, Jon’s legacy is vast. Jon was a man of faith, kindness, and joy, known for his enthusiasm and love for his work. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
