Hi, My name is Jack and this GoFundme is to help raise funds for my husband Jon Derenburger who has been diagnosed with Grade 4 GBM Brain Cancer since August of 2020, in the middle of the pandemic. Unfortunately, GBM is the most aggressive form of cancer known and there is no known cure at the moment. My husband Jon is a veterinary Lab Tech who loves helping animals and is passionate about rescuing senior dogs. He is a big sci-fi geek at heart and loves Star Trek and Doctor Who. Anyone who has met him will know him to be mild mannered, kindhearted, helpful and with a wonderful sense of humor. Within the last 2 years he has undergone 2 brain surgeries and survived a DVT clot in his lung and a stroke. As you can imagine our lives have made a turn for the worse. Jon's mobility is limited and he requires assistance frequently in doing everyday tasks and depends on my help greatly. It breaks my heart to have to leave him at home to fend for himself while i work to make just enough money to keep us afloat. He is currently going through (avastin) Chemotherapy indefinitely ( every other week) which i drive him to to his appointments and has been responding to it well despite the poor prognosis. We are drowning in medical debt from emergency services and doctors visits and often struggling to pay our bills. We live alone in a 1 bedroom apartment and don't have family who live close enough that can help us through this tough time. I am a new immigrant to America and don't have my family here with me to help us out. I am currently working minimum wage at my local Vons part-time and taking care of my husband who greatly depends on me. It has been extremely stressful and mentally draining to have been going through such traumatic experiences for the last 2 years straight without relief. Which is why we are desperate for any help that you can offer, even as little as a dollar helps us greatly.
