Hi, my name is Kim and I am fundraising for my former partner, Jon Epstein. Just over a year ago Jon experienced a catastrophic financial loss. Diagnosed with aggressive skin cancer, Jon had to have surgical treatment and reconstructive surgery on his face.

Unfortunately, this occurred before he was able to purchase insurance.

Without insurance, unfortunately, he had to deplete his retirement to pay for multiple surgeries and recovery. Not only was there the initial surgery and hospital bills, but two reconstructive surgeries. The cancer, luckily was caught before it reached his eyes but was far enough along to mean extensive medical care.

As is the case, medical bills are expensive and Jon's finally totaled out in excess of 30,000; this depleted his retirement fund and upon recovery, he began to look for FT employment. At 62, that is also a difficult endeavor even in this economy.

Now facing eviction and mounting bills I am hoping to raise money to get him through this most difficult time.

As long as I have known Jon which is over a decade, he has never failed to help others- whether it is offering shelter, $ or raising money for others, including those who are experiencing homelessness.

I am hopeful we as a community, friends and family can help him get back on solid ground so he can move forward.
