Help Jon Dee Rebuild After Life-Saving Spinal Surgeries

Jim Crosby here for Jon Dee Graham:

I am sponsoring a Go Fund Me for Jon Dee with a little tech help form his son. For most of 2025, Jon Dee lived in a hospital room. Twice, we almost lost him.

Over the past three years, Jon Dee has endured five major spinal surgeries—four in 2025 alone, following one in 2024. These surgeries were not elective or optional; they were life-saving. His entire spine is now fused, from the base of his neck to the bottom of his back. He is currently relearning how to walk steadily, how to stand without collapsing, how to trust his body again.

This all began three years ago, when Jon Dee suffered a serious fall. Tragically, the hospital he was taken to missed a fracture in his neck. That injury went undiagnosed until he finally saw a specialist in 2024—by then, the damage had compounded, setting off a cascade of surgeries, hospitalizations, and complications that changed his life.

Because of this, Jon Dee has been unable to tour or play many of the gigs that once supported him. Medical bills have mounted despite insurance. The physical pain has been immense—but so has the emotional toll. Jon Dee now lives with PTSD from the repeated surgeries, hospital stays, and near-death experiences. Healing is not just physical; it is psychological, and it takes time.

What makes this especially hard is who Jon Dee is.

He is someone who gives. Over the years, he has played countless benefit shows, raised money for others, shown up when people needed him. Asking for help does not come naturally to him. In fact, he resisted the idea of a GoFundMe for over a year. Accepting help feels harder to him than giving it.

But the truth is: the last three years have set him back in ways that no amount of grit alone can fix.

Jon Dee is doing what he can. He’s brought the BearCave Newsletter back to life. He’s making art again. He’s rebuilding—slowly, carefully, with courage. What he needs now is support to help him catch up from the medical and financial aftermath of these years so he can truly move forward.

If you are able to donate, please know that any amount helps. This is not about charity—it’s about community, about helping someone who has spent a lifetime helping others get back on his feet in a very real way.

Your donation is tax-deductible, but more importantly, it is meaningful and will help him get him back on his feet.

Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring. And thank you-for Jon Dee.
