Help Jon Barnes' Family with Medical Bills!

Donation protected
Jon Barnes has his work cut out for him! Standing at an impressive 6’4” you couldn’t miss him when you walked into a HyVee he was working at. Always joking, quick witted, and ornery, laughter surrounds him. You could tell Jon took pride in his department and enjoyed building displays, especially the outdoor fall display.

He was first diagnosed in 2006 with a cancerous brain tumor, after years of treatment at University of Iowa and Mayo Clinic, non invasive options such as radiation and chemotherapy were no longer working. He has been unable to work since November of 2023. Right before Christmas that same year, he underwent brain surgery to remove the most aggressive portion of the tumor. Today, after months of various interventions, treatments, therapies, and hospitalizations, all medical options have been exhausted.

We are asking for help with the mounting medical bills, travel expenses and further renovations needed to allow Jon to stay at home. His wife, daughters, friends, and family are doing all they can to help.

Your financial support will relieve the pressure on his family. Thank you for your continued prayer, love, support, and financial donations. Your generosity will make a difference for Jon’s family!

A little note from his oldest daughter:

Hi, my name is Madison, and I’m the oldest daughter of Jon Barnes. My dad and my family are very private so many may not know that he has been battling brain cancer ever since I was a baby. I didn’t realize the severity of his condition throughout my childhood. My mom and dad always tried to make sure life was as normal as possible for my sister and I.
My dad always managed to make brain cancer look like the common flu. I remember when I was in elementary school, my dad was going through some form of chemotherapy and as a result of the chemotherapy my dad felt nauseous, weak, and sickly. Regardless of what my dad was feeling, he always managed to spend time with my little sister Makayla and I. Her and I would beg my dad to go to the park or to go get ice cream, like all young kids do, and even with him feeling sick and us annoying him, he always took us. That is the kind of man this fundraiser is for. A man that will do anything for his family, even if the odds are against him.
After everything he’s done for me, my family, friends, and coworkers, this is something we can all do in return. Over the past 18 years, my family has been able to manage without asking for help. Now that my dad requires close observation and 24/7 care, with the medical bills and the needed renovations to keep him home, the time has come to lean on our friends and family. If you’re unable to donate, please share and keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you!
