Our sweet boy, Merry, has had the unfortunate luck to be one of the many male cats that end up with crystals in their bladder, causing a life threatening condition that requires emergency veterinary care. Jon and I woke up Saturday morning and noticed strange behavior and were able to get him into the Roxbury vet pretty immediately where he stayed for 4 days under their expert care and attention. Unfortunately upon discharge he was still unable to urinate significantly on his own and we were referred to the local emergency clinic in Newtown. There they reinserted a catheter to try and flush out his bladder some more. After a second catheterization and still no luck, the wonderfully compassionate team at Newtown Veterinary Specialists strongly recommended a surgery that in essence permanently opens up the pathways to allow easier flow of urine. As of Friday, we were finally able to get him home and recovering after almost a week of discomfort and distress!! Hallelujah!

Anyone who has met Merry knows that he is the sweetest, most gentle, avid biscuit baker and overall lovey mush ball there ever was!! Jon and I have been doing everything we can to ensure his road to a safe and quick recovery, but that has come at a huge, unexpected, cost. We feel so blessed to have a strong community of friends, family, and peers that have reached out with concern for Merry’s situation. And without that community, I don’t know that we would have held on so strong through this journey.

But it has come to the point where we need to lean on our community a little more and would like to ask for any financial support folks can provide to help with the hefty costs of these emergency services. All donations will be put directly to paying off medical bills.
