The Palisades Fire devastated so many people’s lives so quickly. In an instant, everything was gone - homes, belongings, photos, memories. Two of those people are my fiancée Mike’s parents, Jon (79 yrs old) and Loni (78 yrs old). They have lived in their humble house in the Palisades for over 50 years and proudly raised their 2 boys there. Overnight, the fire wiped out the entire community that they loved, including their beloved home. We are grateful they evacuated safely, but they were only able to escape with a few days of clothes, a few weeks of medicine, and their important documents. They will likely not get enough insurance reimbursement to rebuild or be able to buy another home in Los Angeles. Given the many people that this fire affected, they also don’t know how long it will be before they see any relief. It breaks my heart for these wonderful, kind, loving, and supportive people to have to start over at their age. They are retirees on a fixed income and currently staying at a friend's home to try to figure out their next steps.
My name is Amy Lam and I live in NY with Mike, and really want to help my future in-laws. The donations are to help them with rent, food, new furniture (bed/mattress, kitchen table, etc.), linens, pots/pans, and clothes. Mike and I appreciate any and all help, no matter how big or small. Thank you in advance for your kindness in these trying times.
