Help Jolo, Sulu's Fire Victims

Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu!  My name is Fairodz Mundoc, a resident of Wading River, NY.  Two days ago on July 24, 2018, over 3 thousand homes in Jolo, Sulu, Philippines were razed to the ground by a huge fire.  Built of light materials, these houses stood no chance against the fire that quickly  turned into an inferno, leaving an estimated 30,000 people suddenly homeless.  These people, even prior to this disaster, are already in economic hardship.  Imagine their situation now.  Homeless, displaced,  and stripped of whatever little that they possessed.   They are now in various evacuation centers, in dire need of basic necessities like rice, water, milk formula for infants,  medicines, sleeping mats and blankets, mosquito nets,  prayer clothes and mats,  clothing items, and household items like plates and utensils.   Your donations will be used to purchase these much needed items.

There are many groups and organizations,  working in concert or individually,  to collect and distribute donations to the fire victims in  various evacuation centers.   For this campaign,  I chose two groups to assist me in the distribution  .  First is Nisa-ul Haqq  https://www.facebook.com/nisa.ul.haqq.fi.bangsamoro/ a non-governmental organization seasoned in relief organization and distribution, having led relief operations in Lanao,  Maguindanao, and Zamboanga.  The person  I am in contact with is the organization's executive director, Ms. Fatima Pir Allian.  

The second is the group of Dr.  Merhama Pandi, principal of Salih Yusa Elementary School.  250 students of this school, and their families,  are among the thousands left homeless by the fire.  Dr. Pandi  wasted no time and quickly mobilized her team to provide immediate relief to the students and their families.   I have contacted Dr. Pandi to tell her about this campaign .    

Both contact persons agreed to give me an assessment of the needs of the evacuees so I can proceed with the delivery of the funds without unnecessary delay.  I will be withdrawing the funds myself,  and will personally deliver the donations to the two above mentioned groups for distribution.

Jolo, Sulu is close to my heart.  It is my birthplace.  Some of the people that lost their homes to the fire are my relatives. The people of Jolo, the Tausugs, are very resilient people.  They had withstood disasters of various nature in the past. They will survive this one too, God-willing.  But, needless to say, they need all the help they can get.    In a disaster of this magnitude, surely we will not be able to help everyone.   But if we can help some, then we should.   May the Almighty take care of all our affairs and may He keep us all safe from harm.  Ameen,
