Hello everyone,
As some of you know, I was planning on moving to Missouri to begin my life with my husband. However, the day before I was set to leave, both him and I were involved in a car accident. My car flipped four times and the seatbelt failed, sending me into the passenger seat with my husband. He grabbed me but when we came to a stop I was unconscious and my head was pinned between the car and asphalt with my body out the window. He used Superman’s strength to get me out from underneath but the damage was done. I was strapped to a board and sent to the ER where they did CAT scans revealing that I had fractured my C6 vertebrae and a slight concussion. I also had many lacerations around my head, above my right eye and as well as down my neck. My husband miraculously is okay. With that said, I am home at my parents until I am cleared to work. The car is totaled and I ultimately need to get another one. The medical bills will add up surely as well. I am asking for your help to help cover these medical costs, help with a new car, and ultimately to help cover bills during the time that I am incapacitated. My husband went home to Missouri and came back here to help me for a few weeks, however he needs to return back there to work because bills don’t stop. My follow-up from the ER resulted with me having to stay in my collar for at minimum of 6 more weeks, where I will have another CAT scan to determine where I stand. I haven’t been cleared to work until the middle of November, and even then I will only be able to do light duty; ie I cannot lift anything more than one pound. Even so, I do have some nerve damage in my arms as they hurt to move, as well as my shoulder. The vertebrae fracture resulted in this and I’m not sure if the damage can be healed.
The car insurance covers any injuries that my husband might have sustained but unfortunately as for myself, the coverage barely covers the ambulance ride to the hospital. I was trying to get onto my husbands insurance, since the day we got married, but ultimately we had to wait until Open enrollment. Me working two jobs before hand both part time waived my ability to receive medical insurance through either job. Therefore I will have many bills in the future.
Your help would be greatly appreciated as I, and my husband try to move forward from this traumatic experience. Thank you to everyone who has reached out throughout this ordeal.
