Help Jojo Recover from Traumatic Injuries

Hi. As some of you may know, this is Jojo. He’s been my companion for five years, ever since a special family member gave him to me. Jojo has always been a little quirky, with a neurological issue that makes him unique, and his loving spirit has helped me through some of the hardest times in my life. Many of you have seen my appreciation posts about him, and you know how much he means to me.

On June 8th, I let Jojo and his brother out as I normally do in the early morning. They always return when called, especially for treats. That day, after lunch with a friend, I felt something was off. When I got home, Jojo didn’t respond to his name or treats. I used his Apple tag and found it, without his collar, on a neighbor’s property. My heart sank. I searched for him every two hours, up and down the street, calling his name, talking to neighbors, and posting flyers. I even received scam calls, but I never gave up hope.

After two weeks of searching, I was devastated and exhausted. Then, during dinner with a friend, I got a call—Jojo had been found and taken to the ER pet hospital. He was in rough shape: his eye was bulging, and he had multiple jaw fractures, but he was alive. After some confusion at the first hospital, we took him to LAASER in Glassell Park, where Dr. Vaca gave us clear answers and a plan for surgery and recovery. Jojo needed around-the-clock care, feeding through a tube, and constant monitoring. Now that he’s doing better, I can finally rest a little myself.

The vet bills for Jojo’s emergency care, surgeries, aftercare, and medication have been overwhelming. Euthanasia was never an option for me—I’m committed to giving Jojo the best chance at a full recovery. I’m asking for any help you can give, whether it’s financial support or simply sharing our story. Every contribution will go directly toward Jojo’s medical expenses and ongoing care. Thank you to everyone who has reached out, prayed, and helped bring him home. Your kindness means the world to us. With deepest gratitude, Mia & Jojo Gonzalez.
