Hi, my name is Kathy Cavero and I am seeking support for my husband, Jojo/JC Cavero, who has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer. In this difficult time, I am turning to the kindness and generosity of friends, family, and compassionate strangers to help us provide for the care he needs.
This past January, JC went to the ER with pain in his left leg that we originally thought was from sciatica. A biopsy revealed that it was actually cancer that had metastasized to the bone and lower spine. As a result, JC underwent lower back surgery in February. Unfortunately, before he could continue further discussion about treatment options for his cancer, JC had to be readmitted into the hospital for a bacterial infection in his bloodstream. During the liver biopsy that was performed to rule out the source of the infection, a vein was punctured, and JC had to undergo an emergency procedure where he had to be transferred and intubated in the ICU. Now that he is in recovery from the infection, JC will be able to discuss potential treatment plans for his Stage 4 Colon Cancer with an oncologist this month. As he embarks on this arduous journey of treatments, surgeries, and recovery, we are committed to ensuring that he receives the best possible care.
JC is a loving husband and an amazing dad to our 16-year-old daughter, Sophie. He has always been the pillar of strength in our family. One of the things that define JC is his zest for life. He finds happiness in spending time with friends and family, traveling, and his passion for basketball. Above all, JC’s faith in God has been a source of comfort and strength throughout this journey. As a devout Christian and member of Couples for Christ (CFC), he continues to inspire us with his unwavering faith and positive outlook, even in the face of adversity.
Despite his resilience, however, the financial burden of medical expenses is overwhelming. Your contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference in our lives. Your prayers, kind words, and support mean the world to us during this challenging time.
We thank you for your love, generosity, and support.
UPDATE:
Hi everyone, I wanted to thank you all for your donations, prayers, and support for my family and I. It is with great sadness that I must update that my husband Jojo/JC passed away on April 8th due to right heart failure and sepsis. JC was a great husband, father, and friend to many. Though his cancer cells were aggressive, he fought hard until the end. His memory will continue to live on. Your generous contributions in this GoFundMe will now be used to arrange his funeral service. Thank you all for your love and continued support.
