Help Jo-Jo & Community Rebuild Home After Hurricane Melissa

Donation protected
"Auntie, don't worry. Everything will be okay."

Those were my nephew Jo-Jo's last words to me before Hurricane Melissa tore through his home in Hampden Land, Trelawny, Jamaica.

Hours later, everything was gone.

His roof. His walls. His family's sense of safety.

Right now, Jo-Jo, his wife, his 7-year-old, his 9-year-old, and his mother-in-law are still living in what's left of their destroyed home—exposed to rain, with no electricity, no running water, and no help coming.

They're Not Alone

Twelve families in Hamden Land lost everything. This tight-knit community of masons, carpenters, and farmers has been completely forgotten by relief agencies. They're too remote, too hard to reach, too invisible.

But they're not invisible to me.
And I'm asking you to see them too.

The Reality
I was there when the hurricane hit. I saw the destruction with my own eyes.

Right now:
Families are living in homes with no roofs and crumbling walls
Children sleep on wet floors
No power until 2026
It's rainy season—every day brings more damage and danger

Jo-Jo is a skilled carpenter. His neighbors are masons and builders. They're ready to rebuild—they just need materials.

The Plan
I'm going back to Jamaica in December to help rebuild 4 concrete and steel homes—starting with Jo-Jo's family and three others who need it most.

Why concrete and steel?
Because wood houses don't survive hurricanes. These families won't lose everything again.
What we're building:
✅ 4 two-bedroom, hurricane-resistant homes
✅ Community-led construction (they'll help build each other's homes)
✅ Start: December/January
✅ Completion: Spring 2026
✅ Cost: $70,000 ($17,500 per home)

What Your Donation Does
$25 = Bags of cement
$100 = Concrete blocks
$500 = Roofing materials
$1,000 = Doors and windows
$17,500 = One complete home for a family

Every dollar goes directly to materials and construction. I'll manage the funds personally and provide regular photo/video updates from the build site.

This Is Phase One
If we exceed $70,000, every extra dollar goes toward the other 8 families still waiting. My dream is to rebuild all 12 homes—but right now, I'm focused on getting Jo-Jo's babies and three other families into safe, dry homes by spring.

We're also providing immediate supplies (tarps, food, water, baby items) through our Amazon Registry while we fundraise: Immediate Supplies

Why I'm Doing This

I'm Jo-Jo's aunt. I refuse to let my nephew's children grow up in a broken home when I have the power to help.

Jo-Jo called me before the hurricane to tell me everything would be okay.
Let's make sure he was right.

Picture This: May 2026
Jo-Jo's 7-year-old and 9-year-old are running through a sturdy home with a solid roof. Rain doesn't pour in anymore. The walls don't shake.

The family is safe.

And next door, three other families are experiencing the same miracle.

You made that happen.
