I want to introduce you to Joi Alexander—a truly remarkable woman I met just 15 months ago. Joi and I crossed paths when I was hiring for the Director of Catering role at my hotel. She stood out immediately with her infectious personality and go-getter attitude, the kind of energy you just want to be around. I wanted her on the team from the start.

Not long after Joi joined us, she received a life-altering diagnosis: a rare form of Triple Negative Breast Cancer. This news would shake anyone, but as a single mother of three beautiful children, Joi’s resilience was even more inspiring. Her strength and courage hit home personally from my own family’s experiences—of my aunt’s battle with cancer and the loss of my father to colon cancer at a young age.

True to the spirit of family, we rallied around Joi. And today, I’m thrilled to share that she has won her battle and is now 100% cancer-free! Joi rejoined our team with her incredible spirit intact, and she's back to work, stronger than ever. However, she still faces lingering medical bills from her time on leave.
